WC VII - Day Three
Sunday began with a pair of games, Pandemic and Dominant Species. Felix, little CJ and Scott played Pandemic while CJ, Mike, Jeff, Paul and Stephen tackled Dominant Species.
In the first game of Pandemic, the hapless do-gooders were quickly overwhelmed by an early epidemic that ran rampant. Despite curing three of the four diseases relatively quickly, several outbreaks quickly overwhelmed the health services in South America and the human population was plunged into an extended period of disease and death.
In game 2, another early epidemic seemed to head the game down the same path. But the team was able to eradicate disease in the Middle East and that bought them enough time to stay just a step ahead of the plagues breaking out elsewhere. Eventually cures were found for all four diseases and the health team led the world into a new era of extended life and peace.
Since Pandemic played so quickly, Felix, little CJ, and Scott played a game of Tsuro and a game of To Court the King. Felix won both games although little CJ gave him a run for his money in To Court the King.
The folks playing Dominant Species made it through all of two turns during the morning and decided to call the game at that point. The system seemed to work well but was very detailed. Everyone said they had fun and enjoyed the game so perhaps it should be a candidate as a day-long game next year. No report was heard of who was declared the victor.
Jen set up a nice terrain board for CAV: Combat Assault Vehicle in the afternoon and the mechs started rampaging across the countryside. Mike, Felix, Stephen, CJ, and Jen were on team Scared-y Cat while Jeff, Paul, little CJ and Scott were on Team Domination.
After desultory indirect fire during turn 1, which scratched a few mechs, little CJ drew first blood when he caused a critical hit on Jen and blew up her mech. Paul also caused a critical on one of Felix’s small support mechs hiding behind a wall, killing it.
Jeff then sprang forward at the beginning of the next turn, running around a hill to shoot Stephen who was hiding behind the same wall with Felix’s now smoking heap of a mech. Stephen though he was safely ensconced behind the wall but he wasn’t as Jeff found a soft point in his armor with both shots and scattered Stephen’s smoking bits across the battlefield.
Stephen shot back with his dying blow and caused a critical hit on Jeff that caused significant but not lethal damage. Team Cat ganged up on Jeff who was now exposed from several directions and finished him off.
Scott dropped some more indirect fire on Mike, scratching off a bit more paint. Little CJ killed one of big CJ’s mechs in retaliation for killing Jeff, then finished off CJ’s other mech as well.
Felix came out from behind a wall and blasted little CJ into oblivion. Paul finished the battle by destroying Mike with a critical hit as he hid behind a hill and Team Domination romped around the battlefield in victory.
A pair of games were on tap for Sunday night as well. Agricola was played by Jeff, Mike, and little CJ while Dungeonlords was played by Sue, CJ, Felix and Scott.
Dungeonlords was a very interesting system as folks tried to load up their dungeons to finish off any adventures dumb enough to try their hand . The life of Dungeon Lord is not as easy as it looks as there is always so much to do, so little time, and so few minions. Add in the tax collector and payday and the poor Dungeon Lords are always behind.
When all was said and done, CJ and Scott shared victory and were declared co-bestest Dungeon Lords.
In Agricola, Jeff eked out a slim two point victory to earn the title of Best Farmer of All Time.
Sunday ended with a trio of games of Bang! Between Jeff, Scott, little CJ, CJ and Sue. The Outlaws reigned supreme in all three games. In the first one, little CJ and Scott won as Sheriff Jeff was gunned down.
The same pair of outlaws ganged up on Sheriff Sue in game 2 as poor deputy Jeff never even got a turn. In game three, outlaws Jeff and little CJ again gunned down Sheriff Sue. If was a bad day to be Sheriff.

Dominant Species
I really enjoyed the game of Dominant Species. I forget the scoring order, but I think it may have been:
Paul, Jeff, Stephen, CJ and Mike. Please feel to correct me if I am not recalling this correctly.
There is a Vassal module for Dominant Species so perhaps some of us could get an email game together at some point.
